Terminating Helix
01 — Overview
- Code
- SYN-T1-TRH-1000
- Type
- Type-I — Helix type (Heavy duty)
- Drawing
- TEC GR 11.12
The part that actually holds the span. Five aluminised or galvanised steel rods, preformed with a cabled loop at one end that drops into the thimble groove and a gritted leg that lays over the protective helix. Cross-over marks and a colour code show where to start. It must hold to 90% of the cable's breaking load and then slip — slipping is a designed behaviour, because a grip that never releases takes the cable with it.

- 01Dead-end gripAluminised steel
04 — Why it's built this way
- Cabled loop is prefabricated — nothing is formed on site
- Cross-over point marked and colour coded to cable diameter
- Passes the resilience test through three wrap and unwrap cycles
- Wrapping on a mandrel of its own diameter, eight times, without damage
